There are a few things you can look for to make sure that the painters you’re hiring are reputable and worth the money:
Licensed, Bonded, and Insured
Look for a painting company that is both licensed and insured. This is important because it means that you are covered in case anything happens to your property during the paint job. Most good companies will require their expert painters to have their own insurance, but it’s worth asking just in case. Some states do not require painting contractors to be licensed so you may also want to ask if they have one and whether or not it is current.
References
Ask for references when you meet with the estimator and follow up on them later. You should also check out their online reviews, as this will help you get an idea of how they work. If they are unresponsive or take a long time to return your call, it might be a sign of how they run their business.
Knowledgeable Staff
Good painters should be able to answer all of your questions and not leave any loose ends hanging. They should also be able to explain why something needs to be done in a certain way or why it won’t work another way.
